Some days, the flowers take a back seat because the stories my clients share stay with me long after they’ve left the shop.
Today I met a couple of gents whose lives instantly connected with mine in the most unexpected ways.
One shared his dream:
✈️ Once he completes his flight training, he wants to fly over the jungle — a dream full of adventure and purpose.
Another spoke about his time in the Light Infantry, his Hong Kong tour… and then the wild part:
He served in the same infantry as my father-in-law and even knew the name.
He’d worked at Copthorne Barracks too.
Small world. Big stories.
And what an honour to hear them. 💜
This job isn’t just petals and stems —
It’s people, connection, and listening deeply when someone opens up their world to you.
That’s what I love the most.
Every year he rings to preorder his Christmas flowers — our little tradition.
But this time, the second he said “hello”, I felt that wobble in his voice.
He shared news that would pull the air from anyone’s chest…
and yet he still spoke with warmth, gratitude, and that spark he’s always had.
He’s still putting up lights for the kids on his street,
still finding little pockets of joy,
still choosing to keep going.
People like him remind me why I love what I do
and why flowers are never just flowers. 💜✨
